Warranty Information
How Siding Warranties Actually Work
A warranty is only as good as the install behind it. We document the work, follow manufacturer specs, and put our own workmanship coverage in writing on every contract.
What's Covered, and By Whom
Two Warranties on Every Project
Every Sierra Siding project carries two layers of warranty: the manufacturer's coverage on the boards, windows, and finishes themselves, and our workmanship warranty on the install. Both are documented in writing in the project paperwork you receive at close-out.
Manufacturer warranties
Each siding, window, and finish brand we install carries its own published warranty. We follow manufacturer installation requirements so those warranties remain valid for the homeowner.
Workmanship warranty in writing
Our workmanship warranty is included in the signed contract for every project — terms in writing, not in a marketing line. We do not publish a single duration here until every variable (project type, scope) is reflected accurately.
Documentation that supports your coverage
On every project we keep records — product lot/batch info, photo documentation of flashing and WRB, and signed walkthrough — so a future warranty claim has the paperwork it needs.
Installed to spec, not to a corner
Most warranty denials come from install shortcuts: wrong fastener, wrong gap, wrong ground clearance. We install to manufacturer best-practice so coverage is real, not theoretical.
Manufacturer Coverage
Warranty Terms from the Brands We Install
These are the published warranty terms from the manufacturers themselves, summarized in plain language. Full terms, exclusions, and prorations are governed by each manufacturer's official warranty document, linked below. We do not modify or guarantee third-party warranties — we follow install specs so they remain valid for you.
| Product | Substrate / Product | Finish | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| James Hardie® Fiber Cement Siding | 30-year limited (non-prorated, transferable per terms) | ColorPlus® Technology: 15-year limited finish | James Hardie warranty documents |
| LP® SmartSide® Engineered Wood | 5/50 limited — 5-year full labor & replacement, prorated to 50 years | ExpertFinish®: 15-year limited finish (where specified) | LP SmartSide warranty documents |
| Milgard® Windows | Full Lifetime warranty (residential, original purchaser, per Milgard terms) | Included in Full Lifetime coverage per product line | Milgard warranty documents |
Warranty terms are set by the manufacturers and change over time. Always confirm current terms in the manufacturer's official warranty document for your specific product line and installation date.
Sierra Siding Workmanship Warranty
In Your Contract, Not Just on a Webpage
Our workmanship warranty covers the install — flashing, fastening, WRB integration, trim, and finish work. Specific duration and terms are written into the signed contract for each project, because scope (full re-side vs. targeted repair vs. insurance claim work) and substrate condition appropriately change what we can stand behind.
We do not publish a single workmanship duration on this page until every project type can be represented accurately. That is a deliberate honesty rule — the same one that keeps unverified review counts, star ratings, and a street address off this site until each is real. You will see the exact terms before you sign, and we are happy to discuss them on the estimate walk-through.
For homeowners comparing exterior contractors: a clearly-written workmanship warranty in the contract is a stronger signal than a big number on a webpage. Ask any contractor — us included — to put their terms in writing.
If Something Goes Wrong
How to File a Warranty Claim
Document the issue
Photograph the affected area, note when you first observed it, and pull together the project paperwork we provided at close-out — invoice, scope, and any product registration emails.
Call us first
Most issues are resolved faster by us than by the manufacturer's claims department. We come out, assess, and either repair under our workmanship warranty or help you file with the manufacturer if it's a product-level issue.
We file with the manufacturer when needed
If the failure is genuinely a product defect, we package the documentation, lot info, and install records to support your manufacturer claim — and handle the warranty-replacement install.
Honest about exclusions
Manufacturer warranties exclude impact damage, settlement, color-fade-from-staining, and improperly cleaned surfaces — among others. Our workmanship warranty excludes acts of nature and damage caused by other trades. We will tell you straight which category an issue falls into.
For warranty questions on a current or completed Sierra Siding project, the fastest path is a phone call to (530) 772-5057. Reference your project address and approximate install date and we'll pull the records.
